How It Started

Abbie and Brad have had a long relationship with The Commute. As a fellow small business they understand the importance in engaging other boutique businesses to empower the local economy. After four years of business, they were ready to elevate their established brand and get support in future-proofing their identity for years to come. They were starting to find it difficult to create consistency across their marketing channels and felt the brand they had developed over time no longer reflected their ambitions for the space.

What We Did

The Commute started with a brand deep-dive and brainstorming concepts for this new project. We developed Abbie’s obsession with vibrant colours and playful patterns that evoke a sense of joy and creativity. Our moodboard selections drew influences from modern art, retro aesthetics and contemporary design trends, combining elements like abstract shapes, bold colour blocks, inspirational quotes, cheerful visuals and whimsical illustrations.

From this process, we knew the overall aesthetic for this project had to be both nostalgic and fresh, blending past and present influences to create a visually stimulating and uplifting vibe.

We developed three concepts for their potential brand that would create a lively and energetic atmosphere where themes of positivity and curiosity were evident, encouraging a sense of fun and exploration. Of the three designs, we landed on a chosen concept. Abbie and Brad selected an option that embraced the charm of perfectly-imperfect illustrations. A cozy, handmade look and feel that would be inspired by the playful styles of mid-century modern design, soft pastels, and friendly elements that make you feel right at home. Our chosen logos, illustrations, colours and fonts give a nod to the nostalgic, celebrating the joy of individuality and the simple pleasures, inviting Minty customers to connect with them in a fun, personal way which celebrates the unique beauty of botanical living.

“The Commute has given us the business branding that we’ve always wanted! He listened to all our ideas and collated everything in the most wonderful storytelling experience, capturing perfectly the essence of our business and the message that we hope to put out to the world! Nick made the process of freshening up our branding the most lovely and seamless process. Nothing was too much trouble and his collaborative approach is so welcoming.”

Did You Know?

The Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) can naturally filter and purify the air by removing common household toxins. These plants can also absorb harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide from the air, making them not only aesthetically pleasing but also beneficial to your health. A NASA study on indoor air quality highlighted this natural air-purifying ability, making Peace Lilies and other similar plants great choices for improving indoor environments.

Let’s create something awesome.
