The Commute is amped to be on the hunt for a part-time Sales and Marketing Assistant to join our family. This is a flexible and ever-developing role. Perfect for a marketing generalist who is currently studying, looking for a side-hustle, or simply wanting to gain real-world digital marketing and creative experience.

The Commute, is a pocket-sized digital marketing and creative agency, based in the heart of Frankston. We are proudly local to South-East Melbourne and are working with some awesome clients, all over Australia and New Zealand.

 

We know a whole lot about website development, brand strategy, digital marketing and content production. With our tailored approach, we create meaningful marketing and authentic storytelling for our customers. While we only launched the business in 2020, we already have clients in a range of industries, including health and wellbeing, not-for-profit, retail, IT, construction, bridal and much more.

We know the sweet spot between strategy, creativity and authenticity.

The Commute also donates a portion of every dollar made to support some incredible charitable organisations (Including the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and Minus18).

 

Our founder Nick McCabe-Schultz (he/him) has over a decade of real-world brand, digital marketing and social media experience. Collaborating with businesses including Telstra, Westfield, Julius Marlow, Air New Zealand and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

 

We are a small agency, but love to punch above our weight. We have lofty goals to expand our business in the coming 24 months, including offering new and exciting creative services.

You will be working closely with Nick (and his co-owner, based in Sydney). Thinking with a strategic lens, while also getting your hands dirty and creating some killer content. This could be anything from websites, email marketing, logos to strategic brand development projects. More importantly, you will also be crucial in finding new and relevant customers for The Commute to work with, so we can continue to grow.

Based in our Frankston office, your duties will include:

  • Sourcing, outreach and communication with potential new clients to work with The Commute.
  • Helping the team develop ideas and brainstorm concepts for our clients.
  • Assisting in our creative process. Creating top-notch digital content, websites and email marketing (EDMs) for The Commute and it’s clients.
  • Scheduling content and producing reports for paid and organic social media marketing.
  • Assisting in updating our own company website
  • Coordinating events and workshops.
While we appreciate anyone with a marketing degree or similar qualification, we know it’s not the most important thing. If you have have the passion and creative/strategic mind, we are happy to provide the training.

Your super powers will include

  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and PowerPoint
  • Incredible written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of social media and digital marketing
  • A creative eye, ability to think of the unexpected and attention to detail.
  • A passion for storytelling and an ability to think from a customer’s lens
  • Hyper-organisation and a total list warrior.
  • Ability to juggle many projects at one time

  • Photography, videography and/or video production
This role will be 16-24 hours per week at our Frankston office. You will also be given the tools to work remotely, occasionally (fingers crossed for no more lockdowns!).
There is also the potential for this position to expand to a full-time role, depending on your success.
