The Project

The Commute was enlisted to support the development of the Clutha Community Hub, in Balclutha, New Zealand. Through volunteer marketing support, consultation, content production and training. Our first project was to develop a fresh digital hub that will help to amplify the Clutha Community Hub to the wider South Otago region.

A contemporary facility that catches attention and inspires.

Much like the Hub development. The Commute created a clean and contemporary website that puts inspiration and information front and centre. Enough granular project details to inform corporate audiences. While also engaging and digestible enough for wider community residents.

“The Trust had a complex brief. The Clutha Community Hub website had to be appropriate for corporate and community engagement while portraying the projects objectives to both audiences. Under tight time frames Nick worked with existing consultants and delivered what we believe to be an exceptional outcome.”

The Process

Working with Dale Anderson and Natasha Murno from the Clutha Community Hub Charitable Trust. We were fortunate to meet face-to-face in Balclutha before beginning work on the project. The remaining of the project was coordinated remotely via Google Meets and Slack. We identified the purpose and objectives of the new site while also suggesting any other areas that would be worthwhile optimising. We decided a mobile-friendly and easy to navigate/update WordPress website was a priority. Videos, images, news and floor plans would be showcased on every page, to bring the to simplify communication with the community and increase project sentiment. The design would also be used to inspire future digital marketing content.

  • Tight time frames

  • Brand colour and typography development

  • Consultation with other local creatives

  • In person and remote coordination

The project had some initial logo designs, we worked to finalise these with a third-party designer. We then supplemented these with a set of clear brand guidelines, a typography set and a full logo package for the team.

In less than 4 weeks we were able to build and launch an incredible site that has been well received by both the project managers, but also the community.

Let’s create something awesome.
